About
Ayrton is a London-based mixed media artist who creates symmetrical, kaleidoscopic compositions using real butterflies. Inspired by natural patterns, each piece showcases careful arrangement and balance.
The works blend bold and delicate butterfly specimens, preserving their vibrant colors and unique wing patterns while transforming them into lasting artistic displays. Ayrton's technique highlights the natural beauty of each butterfly through thoughtful positioning and composition.
The pieces shown are available for purchase as limited edition original artworks featuring real butterflies, high-quality prints, or as bespoke commissioned works. For custom pieces created to your specifications, a personal consultation can be arranged. Please contact Ayrton via the contact page to discuss purchasing options or to schedule a consultation.
“The greatest threat to butterflies are habitat change and loss due to residential, commercial and agricultural development.”
We source our butterflies exclusively from specialised farms around the world that actively preserve rainforest biodiversity. These operations create a sustainable alternative to destructive commercial farming whilst providing higher wages to local communities. By creating economic value from intact ecosystems, these farms protect large areas of native forest that might otherwise be cleared.
How Butterfly Farming Works
The farming process respects natural cycles. Female butterflies lay eggs in protected enclosures filled with native plants, where they're carefully monitored through development. While wild butterflies face survival rates of just 1-2%, these controlled environments achieve 70-90% success rates. Most butterflies are released back into nature, with only a portion supporting education, science, and artistry like ours.
Supporting Conservation
This sustainable model transforms conservation into opportunity. Local families learn valuable skills that require minimal investment but yield significant returns. Their work encourages governments to protect natural ecosystems rather than converting them to farmland. Most importantly, these practices help prevent native species from becoming endangered whilst supporting traditional ways of life.

Important: None of the butterflies used in our artwork are endangered species.
